Rugeley Web
My name is Shaun, and I live in Hill Ridware but grew up in Rugeley, Staffordshire. Five years ago I became hooked on SEO
(Search Engine Optimization). Indeed, I do SEO for a living. I started selling Domain Names on eBay then soon
realised it was much more profitable to sell websites with traffic.
I decided to start sharing and teaching my SEO experience through Rugeley Web. It is a fantastic
process so far, in documenting my expertise, techniques and understanding of SEO and make them available to the
public.
I hope you enjoy reading my material on Rugeley Web and do suggest to me things
you would like to know and I am more than happy to provide you with an answer.
Let Rugeley Web help you get started by getting your website on the first page of
Google!
Rugeley Web's
must have Tips for your Website!
Must have
No1: Keyword in your Domain Name!

This is the number 1 tip to get your website on the first page of Google. It really does make a
difference. It's no coincidence that this website is called Rugeley Web! You can outrank most websites you are
competing with for traffic with this little tip. All you need is a handful of back links and you can dominate.
Must have No 2: Title Tag!

The title tag for Rugeley Web looks like this. You must have your Keyword in your
title tag! Google gives great relevance to the keyword being in the title tag.
To find this in Firefox: Click View, Click Page Source, then look in-betweent <title>
Keyword being Rugeley</title>
The title tag has been – and probably will always be – one of the most important On-Site factors
in achieving high search engine rankings.
Must have No 3: Keywords must Appear in H1, H2 and H3 Tags!

The keyword must appear in your H1, H2 and if you can fit it in, H3 tags.
These are the building blocks of your web-page score and help immensely in your rise up the rankings. Look
carefully and you will see rugeley web, and my keyword Rugeley in the above image.
Must have No 4: Keyword must
appear in the first sentence!
If you go to the top of this page you will see that I have 'Rugeley' in the
first sentence. This is because I am using Rugeley as my keyword. You should be doing this too with your
keyword.
Must have No 5: Keyword must
appear in the last sentence!
Same as above. Its a must to have your keyword in the last sentence of your
web-page. Its easy to do, and can, and will help your rankings. The best way to use it is to add some kind of
summary to your page. If you look to the bottom of this page you will find the keyword I am using for the
page, Rugeley!
Must have No 6: keyword density must be
within 2% to 4%!
You need to have your keyword density usually within 2% - 4%. In some
industries, it can change... Sometimes as high as 8% but if you stay in-between 2% - 4% you will be fine. Never go
below 2%. Relevant content cant have density of less than 2%. For this page, the relevancy for my keyword (Which is
Rugeley) I am aiming for about 3%!
Must have No 7: Remove all poor and unrelated outbound links!
Its pointless having outbound links to web-sites with poor page-rank. I want Rugeley Web to be
linked to the 'Big Players' on the internet like Twitter and Facebook, not some guy from
Rugeley Market who has decided to have a website built (No offence Rugeley market stall-holders...
I am just using an example here). Its going to bring your site down, so don't link to them.
I will put it in simple terms... If you link to a poor site, Google will think your website is
poor!
Must have No 8: Add at least 1 image with your keyword in the ALT Text!
Don't be shocked to find that most websites don't have their keywords in the
ALT Text! Big mistake. ALT Text has great relevance within google and using your keyword it the text
gives you the edge over your competitors. Look at the Rugeley Web image below (in IE)!

If you hover over the above image you will see the ALT Text that I have added for this image.
Trust me when I tell you Google much prefer 'Rugeley Keyword Image' to DSC00077138.jpg. as Google can't read images.
Must have No 9: Have your keyword
in Bold, underlined and italic!
As you read through this web-page you will see
that I have occasionally used bold, underline or
Italic on certain words! Well, over my keyword which is
Rugeley. I do this because Google have come out and publicly said that they rank for what's on a document
and how it is decorated.
Google not only look for decoration but also text placement, subdivision,
exact location and their proximity's. If Google are telling you, then they are looking for this...
Here at Rugeley Web we are doing it, and I advise you to do the same for your website.
Must have No 10: No less
than 500 words!
Again Google have come out and said it will rank a page better if it has
more words (Text) on it. It makes sense as the more text the more information that page will have to
offer.
Your website might be all Flash and Images. I recommend that you add text to it if you want to
see it rank high in the search engines.
Everyone of the above tips is being used on this web-page. I
hope Rugeley Web has given you an understanding on how Google and other search engines view your
website!
